Self-adhesive printers invest now for future growth

Label printers are taking advantage of the drop-off in world trade to prepare for the future by investing now, Andrea Vimercati, president of FINAT, declared at Labelexpo 2009.
“The big topic of conversation was this growth in investment – more than 40 per cent of printers are expecting to invest in new equipment in 2010 which will result in increased growth over the next five years. Although the signs of an improvement in trade began to be seen as far back as last March we are still waiting to see a real improvement in immediate trading prospects,” he said.
FINAT, the global trade association for the self-adhesive label industry, had 81 of its members exhibiting at the Brussels exhibition, which, itself, had its largest ever number of stands as equipment manufacturers showed off their new and updated products.
Mr Vimercati said: “There is no doubt that Labelexpo came along at the right time for our industry because more and more printers are taking advantage of the present situation to prepare themselves for better times.
“Digital printing is the coming thing and we were told that there are now more than 30 manufacturers offering digital presses as this technique changes the whole role of our industry and the way it is going,” he said.
