Hercules Strengthens Reggae Reggae’s Faith in RPC

The relaunch of Reggae Reggae Tomato Ketchup in RPC Corby’s squeezable Hercules headstand bottle reflects the popular brand’s continuing faith in RPC as a supplier who can combine on-shelf appeal with consumer convenience.

First launched in February 2009, Reggae Reggae Tomato Ketchup has proven to be a huge success with consumers, underlining the popularity of the flavours created by Caribbean food entrepreneur Levi Roots. Originally packaged in RPC Corby’s Orion bottle, the brand has made the decision to switch to the sister Hercules format in order to further enhance the product’s reputation.

RPC Corby’s range of headstand bottles, including both the Orion and the Hercules design, offer significant benefits to brands, retailers and consumers. Lightweight and shatterproof, the bottles are safe and easy to handle, while their squeezable construction makes pouring both convenient and fun. The bottles are blow moulded in multi-layer PP/EVOH/PP to provide long-term barrier protection for extended shelf life, while the choice of contact clear PP allows consumers to see product contents.

AB World Foods, who fills/ manufactures the ketchup for Levi Roots, has been delighted with the quality of the Orion but has selected the 452 ml Hercules bottle for its eye-catching curves, which the company hopes will differentiate Levi Roots’ exciting brand image from private label alternatives. It is also believed that the new packaging will capture the imagination of families, with the bottle’s ergonomic shape enabling easier handling by younger consumers.

“The contemporary curved design of the Hercules bottle complements the added spicy twist that Reggae Reggae tomato ketchup offers over conventional ketchups,” explains Howard Morrish of AB World Foods. “Its wide labelling area will also maximise Reggae Reggae’s on-shelf presence to give our unique flavour a unique look.

“We have been extremely happy with the help and support provided by RPC Corby since the product’s initial launch, and they have ensured a smooth transition to the new style to help us meet the ever-growing demand for Levi Roots’ delicious product,” Howard Morrish adds.

The relaunched Reggae Reggae Tomato Ketchup is available in leading retailers Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons from September 2009.
