Acierta Invests in Kodak Technology to Increase Presence in the Spanish Billing Market

Acierta Transpromo & Billing Solutions has turned to Kodak technology to help it capture a larger share of the Spanish billing market. The company has installed two KODAK VERSAMARK VL2000 Systems, significantly boosting the production capacity of its TransPromo operations.
Acierta was formed by two major players in the communication services industry, Meydis and Mailgráfica. The companies created an independent entity so that they could pool their knowledge and experience, and capitalize on the burgeoning trend for TransPromo printing – targeted marketing communications printed on customers’ statements and invoices.

With TransPromo printing, companies can turn statements and invoices into highly effective communications and marketing tools, which they can use to help sell products and services, build customer loyalty, and even generate additional revenue by selling advertising space.”

Sourcing the right equipment
Acierta chose the VERSAMARK VL2000 System because of the machine’s outstanding production capacity – it can get through approximately 315 million A4 sides a year, prints in high resolution, and uses inks. Plus it’s capable of duplex operation with a single tower, reducing the risk of breakdowns.

Commitment to full color
Another factor behind Acierta’s purchasing decision was the company’s belief that the industry will in the future adopt full-color printing. “In a few years’ time, we anticipate that all communications will be in full color. When we emerge from the financial downturn, and the long-term print contracts have expired, full-color printing will be a reality – perhaps in as little as three years’ time.”

Liberating marketers
Acierta believes that the many marketing departments in large organizations are dependant on other departments for resources, limiting the scale and reach of their campaigns. For Caro, the company is well positioned to help them overcome this obstacle: “We have all the tools necessary to deliver exactly what marketers need, so they’re no longer dependant on other departments. For example, we can take a company’s enormous database and segment it for TransPromo printing in any way the marketer wants – with no input required from elsewhere in the organization.
“Our aim is to ensure customers avoid having to replicate all the IT systems we already have in place, making document management as simple as possible. Working with marketing departments, we define the segmentation and use data supplied by the customer to develop the segmentation matrix, which is used to generate the documents.”

High quality, low maintenance
Since the VL2000s were installed, Acierta has been very impressed with the machines’output. “The VL2000s deliver impeccable print quality – particularly when used with paper developed specifically for this type of printing, where the ink dries quickly and doesn’t sink as far into the paper,” says Caro.
“The systems have helped us cut lead times and costs, and have made the production process much more flexible. For example, we can now produce a complete, personalized color document in a single pass.”

New business opportunities
For now, Acierta is targeting companies with large billing runs. “The idea of creating a marketing, communication or sales channel from a billing database is not a new one,” says Caro. “The problem has been finding technology that’s advanced enough to segment and print such enormous amounts of personalized data in a way that delivers tangible business benefits. Our investment in the Kodak technology lets us fully exploit this opportunity, and offer our clients the chance to engage with their customers like never before.”
In the future, Acierta plans on moving into full color. “Any company with access to a substantial volume of documents that can be used for promotional purposes effectively has a powerful publishing channel – and we will be on hand to help them develop it,” adds Caro.
