New Staff Appointment at EUROPEN

EUROPEN, The European Organization for Packaging and the Environment, is pleased to announce the appointment of Virginia Janssens as EU Affairs Manager.
In this capacity Virginia will be responsible for the monitoring and reporting of all EU legislation and policy developments on packaging and the environment, liaison with officials of the various EU institutions, other packaging value chain stakeholders and EUROPEN members.

Prior to joining EUROPEN, Virginia worked as a public affairs consultant at the Brussels office of Public Advice (PA) Europe a public affairs and strategic communications consultancy. Before her work at PA Europe, Virginia was a public relations account executive at Weber Shandwick – Brussels.

As a Dutch/Flemish native speaker, Virginia is equally fluent in English and French, and obtained her Masters degree in Social Sciences and Communication at the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL). She has also studied Media and Communications at Loughborough University in the UK and has obtained a second Masters degree in Intercultural Management at the ICHEC Business School in Brussels.

Fiona Durie, who has held this EUROPEN post for almost 6 years has left to take up a position in the packaging corporate sector.
