HP today announced that label converter, S. Lerner Ltd, based in Akko, Israel, has taken an important step into digital production by investing in an HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press, driven by an HP SmartStream Labels and Packaging Print Server, Powered by Esko Artwork, to respond to its customers’ demands for high-quality, short run labels.

A family-owned company, founded in 1978, S. Lerner has established a reputation as one of Israel’s leading producers of high-quality roll and sheet labels, thermal transfer labels and ribbons, printed tapes and shrink sleeves for the cosmetic; pharmaceutical; agricultural chemicals; detergent and food and beverages markets.

Offering its customers both flexographic and digital services, the WS6000 is the company’s first investment in HP Indigo technology. S. Lerner has recently experienced an increase in demand from its customers for fast turnaround, shorter run lengths without compromising upon print quality. The new HP Indigo press offers versatile label production and can reliably and accurately match 97 percent of the PANTONE® Colour range enabling S. Lerner to address these needs.  This ability and the press’s 30m/min. print speed were significant factors in the company’s choice of digital press.

“We pride ourselves on working with customers to develop innovative, labels and packing solutions, to place their products at the forefront of the market,” said Doron Lerner, managing director, S. Lerner. “We wanted to invest in a press that would allow us to continue to do this, but would also have the benefit of allowing S. Lerner to stay ahead of the competition by offering something different, such as medium-run digital labels, with a quick turnaround. The HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press allows us to offer this and more.”

There has been active interest in the services offered by S. Lerner’s HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press and since its installation in January, the new equipment has been used to process a large volume of jobs.

Highly versatile and supporting substrates from 12 to 450 microns, the HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press will provide S. Lerner with the capabilities to produce flexible packaging, shrink sleeves and folding cartons.

“The HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press is very easy to use,” said Lerner. “HP has been brilliant to work with and came to our premises to train our operators and demonstrate the full capabilities of the press. This has enabled us to maximise our productivity and confidently transfer jobs from our conventional presses to our new equipment, whilst maintaining the high-quality we have a reputation for. Our customers have been delighted with the results.”
