New Markets Focus for APPE
* Total Processing & Packaging 2010 Preview Information – Artenius PET Packaging Europe, Stand 5768B
A unique dual colour manufacturing process for PET bottles will be a major highlight of the Artenius PET Packaging Europe (APPE) stand at Total Processing & Packaging 2010.
In addition, the company will showcase its design and technical skills, new decoration techniques and latest sustainability initiatives to demonstrate how its PET containers are suitable for a wide variety of markets, including food and drink, personal care, pharmaceuticals and household products.

The dual colour process utilising specialist injection moulding equipment enables PET bottles to be produced in a graduated shade of two different colours to create an individual and eye-catching appearance that enhances branding and ensures maximum shelf impact.
New packs on display from APPE include a range of Boston Round bottles, ideal for products such as shampoos, liquid soaps and body lotions, and a 70cl spirits bottle, which offers major energy savings during manufacture and transport compared to an equivalent glass bottle. This new bottle builds on the success of the 35cl version, which won the Sustainability Award at last year’s UK Packaging Awards

In addition, following the recent announcement of its exclusive agreement with plastics recycling specialist AWS Eco Plastics, APPE will be showing a range of preforms and containers with increased levels of post-consumer recycled PET (rPET). Other sustainability initiatives on display include lightweight bottles for a variety of applications, a weight saving new neck finish and bottles incorporating up to 100% post consumer recycled material.
APPE will also be taking part in the Design Challenge at Total, demonstrating PET’s versatility to create eye-catching shapes that deliver brand differentiation. In addition to the dual colour effect, the company’s design skills have now been further enhanced by the introduction of a new silk screen decoration facility at APPE’s factory in Gresford, which joins existing labelling and sleeving options to enable bottles to be tailored to individual customer requirements.
In the food and drink sector, the availability of APPE’s hot fill and barrier technologies will demonstrate the increasingly wide range of products which can benefit from the lightweight, safe handling and attractive presentation of PET.
“PET’s versatility and design flexibility makes it an ideal material for a wide range of markets,” comments Martene Spencer, Business Development Manager of APPE.
“Our stand will focus on how we can deliver added value in terms of consumer convenience, product protection and promotion, and enhanced brand image.”
