Dates have been finalized for the largest packaging show in Asia, Tokyo Pack 2012, which will take place on 2-5 October 2012 at the capital city’s international exhibition centre Tokyo Big Sight.
Tokyo Pack 2012 will present state-of-the-art packaging, production and processing solutions for companies in the main sectors of Food & Beverage, Confectionery & Bakery products, Pharmaceuticals & Cosmetics, Non-food Consumer Goods, Industrial Products. Also on show will be a range of related services; Packaging Materials; Printing; Testing& Inspection; Logistics & Distribution; and Recycling& Disposal.
Launched in 1966 and owned and operated directly by the Japan Packaging Institute (JPI), the biannual (every two years) exhibition will feature more than 2,600 booths representing 500 companies in the 23,000 square meter (m2) exhibition space, which attracts more than 70,000 visitors from inside Japan and overseas.
Japan’s Packaging Innovation Display
In addition to the main exhibition, the Good Packaging Pavilion will showcase the year’s best in Japanese packaging innovation and technology: the Japan Star 2012 winners – a creative display of the best of Japan’s innovative packaging designs and technology chosen by industry professionals selected from Japan Packaging Institute, and the Best Packaging – a display of winners of the 2012 packaging awards.
Also featured will be international pavilions showcasing packages and companies from China, South Korea and Sweden.
In 2010, Tokyo Pack attracted more than 62,200 visitors and companies from 11 countries – including Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, Sweden, United Kingdom, USA, Brazil, China, Thailand, Taiwan and Indonesia. The 2012 Tokyo Pack edition is set to exceed all previous exhibitor and visitor numbers, as Japan’s packaging industry rapidly expands in line with the nation’s investment and recovery following the earthquake and tsunami in March 2011.
Exhibitor registration is still open, although space in the 23,000 sq2 Tokyo Big Sight exhibition halls is rapidly filling up. Advance visitor registration will start in July 2012.
